Virginia Beach native rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, and fashion designer Pharrell Williams recently announced a star-studded lineup for Something in the Water, a three-day art, music and culture festival.
The event will take place April 25-28 (College Beach Weekend) at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, and feature a diverse group of arts and entertainment industry giants from Missy Elliot and Dave Matthews Band to Deepak Chopra and Travis Scott.
Pharrell and his team are working with the City of Virginia Beach to create a weekend celebrating the beauty and diversity of the city with an experience that encapsulates music, education, sports, art and culture, health and wellness, and more.
Programming will stretch from the Convention Center, to the ViBe Arts District and an Oceanfront Stage at 5th Street.
In addition to the beachfront concerts and other performances on Oceanfront stages, the weekend will include a special screening and conversation presented by Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY, her collaborative dedicated to the amplification of independent films by filmmakers of color and women of all kinds.
The festival’s featured film will be THE BURIAL OF KOJO written and directed by multi-disciplinary artist Samuel “Blitz” Bazawule.
Other cultural activations will include moments with Deepak Chopra and Geoffrey Canada, as well as a Pop-Up Church Service and TRAP Karaoke. Additional weekend activities will be announced soon.
Global brands like Adidas, Sony, Uber Eats, and Billionaire Boys Club are festival partners bringing programming highlighting sports, entertainment, technology, empowerment, entrepreneurship, and more. Charitable partners include From One Hand to AnOTHER and An Achievable Dream.
